Property experts estimate Cork house prices will to continue to rise as remote workers leave Dublin

Estate agents are anticipating a rise of 7% in house prices over the next year in Cork, a hike that’s the result of a lack of supply paired with high demand for homes in places such as West Cork for remote workers. The estimation has emerged after more than 200 estate agents belonging to the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI) were asked for their opinion on future price trends for its July residential property market monitor report.

“Buyer’s preferences for homes have changed in the last 18 months,” explained Vice Chairperson of the SCSI (Southern region) Majella Galvin, DNG Galvin Auctioneers.

“Location is no longer the key requirement. As a consequence, we continue to see more demand for property in rural areas with large gardens and good broadband.”

Béal na Bláth home has history on its doorstep for €450k

Editorial. Client property.

Built 20 years ago, the 2,100 sq ft (ca. 195 m²) family home is on two acres of roadside ground, on a generally quiet road, within a short walk of the ambush site, and has four bedrooms as it stands, with scope to go up into the attic to utilise more space in an already part converted level should new owners so wish.

So suggests selling agent Majella Galvin of DNG Galvin, and it’s her second listing in this vicinity: earlier this month she posted a 10-year-old 3,010 sq ft (279.64 m²) B3 rated five bed near Lissarda at €525,000, and it’s currently under offer at €520,000.

HOUSE OF THE WEEK: Five-bed with separate office near Timoleague for €650,000

Editorial. Client property.

Not surprisingly, selling agent Majella Galvin of DNG Galvin said there was already great interest in the property: “Greenwood House is ideal for those looking for a country lifestyle and yet want the convenience of amnesties close by.”

“And for those working from home it’s ideal – just step outside, and you will find an office, den, and garage.”

The views, she said, also set this property apart. “The house is also energy efficient, and the current owners were ahead of the times when they built it 13 years ago.”
